Astaxanthin
Astaxanthin is a beta carotene derived from the Haematococcus pluvialis algae. It is bright orangy-red and oil soluble substance that harbors numerous benneficial properties.
As an anti-oxidant, approximately 6000 times stronger than Vitamn C, it is capable of neutralizing large amounts of free radicals, emitted in high amounts during sun exposure. Free radicals cause damaged skin barrier, skin inflammation, collagen destruction and even DNA damage leading to skin cancer. Astaxanthin has been shown to have a positive effect upon all the above as well as photoageing.
It's UV-protective and repairing capacity during UV-light exposure is unique, making Astaxanthin the aboslute favorite active ingredient in our sun screen formula.
Studies suggest that astaxanthin induces collagen and hyaluronic acid production – resulting in a rejuvenating effect.
Zinc
Non-nano zinc is the mineral UV-filter in our formula. We chose the right amount to obtain the desired SPF 30+ without the white skin film typically seen with mineral filter sun screens. This fact enables our sun screen to be used on a dailly basis in your day to day routine, even under your make-up , not just on the beach.
Natural oils:
Jojoba Oil contains approccimately 98% wax esters, rich in several skin beneficial compounds, like Phenols, Flavanoids , Sterols and Vitamines D & E. This special composition, rich in anti-oxidants, including the valuable quercetin, results in an extenssive anti-inflammatory effect, making Jojoba oil a top candidate to use in a sun screen formulation.
The skin barrier protective aspect of Jojoba oil is particularly important when it comes to locking the skin's own moisture in and reducing transepidermal water loss.
Shea butter, also rich in vitamines, fatty acids and triglycerides, is further supporting skin integrity and anti-inflammatory activity, protecting your skin against dryness and wrinkle formation.
